The self-drilling screws are mainly used for screwing on metal sheets and laminates without the need for pre-drilling thanks to their tip that allows you to drill and thread in a single operation, ensuring a high reduction in assembly times and labor used. The ability to drill even important thicknesses is given by the length of the tip. In order to correctly discharge the chips, the thickness of the material to be drilled should be at least 1-1.5mm less than the size of the bit.

The use of Torx allows to transmit a higher tightening torque than other impressions. It is a universal type of impression, unlike the specific ones that are used in the various countries of the world (cross, philips, pozi, slotted, square impressions and so on). Torx is particularly suitable for diameters from 4 upwards; applying it on smaller diameters is not particularly recommended as the reduced depth of the impression with respect to a cross can create problems during assembly. Precisely for this reason, if they are not mounted perfectly in line with the holes and with the screwdriver, the insert could escape from the screw seat.

The self-drilling screws TS Torx with wings are used for fixing wood-metal sandwiches. During drilling, the fins create a seat in the wood suitable for the passage of the next thread without creating friction in the material. Upon reaching the metal part and in contact with the hole created by the tip in the sheet, the fins break and the self-tapping section is screwed onto the sheet by pulling the wooden panel towards itself. The particular milling under the head allows the perfect housing of the screw head inside the wooden panel, thus avoiding the further flaring operation by the user.

The length of the screw is measured from the tip including the head.
