Self-tapping screws are mainly used for screwing onto metal sheets and laminates through simple drilling, without threading or tapping operations. These screws are not particularly suitable for use on die-cast materials and plastics. For safe and stable screwing, particular attention must be paid to the diameter of the hole to be drilled. A small hole in which the screw “forces” to enter is certainly not synonymous with greater guarantee in fixing. Please note, among other things, that the existing tables are empirical and only give an indication of drilling, but are not a certain rule, as the fixing must be verified from time to time according to the technical-mechanical conditions of the part that will be made squeeze.<\/p>\n
The use of the Torx allows the transmission of a higher tightening torque compared to other cavities. It is a universal type impression, unlike the specific ones that are used in various countries around the world (cross, philips, pozi, cut, square impressions and so on). The Torx is particularly suitable for diameters 4 and up; applying it on smaller diameters is not particularly recommended as the reduced depth of the impression compared to a cross can create problems during assembly. Precisely for this reason, if they are not mounted perfectly in line with the holes and with the screwdriver, there is a risk of the insert coming out of the screw seat.<\/p>\n
The central pin allows the screw to be used as an anti-burglary product, although unfortunately there are special inserters on the market to be able to normally unscrew them compared to the period in which they were designed.<\/p>\n
